Weekly Update: March 27-31

Spring is here...well kind of.

I hope everyone had a restful March Break. So nice to hear about all the cool places everyone went!

Last week was WELLNESS WEEK. Students participated in Drumming, Yoga, an Art activity and listened to a presentation by Chris Nihmey. See below for some pictures.

Language:We are beginning to wrap up our Novel Study Unit. We will be presenting our books through a Book Talk in the next few weeks.

This week we read the poem "What Ted Said" and we learned what the word loquacious means. We are creating comic strip stories to demonstrate our understanding for sequencing.

Next we will be working on solving a fairy tale mystery and completing our own fractured fairy tales.

Math: We are almost done with our measurement unit. Students know TONS about elapsed time and they are working in pairs to complete their Temperature Projects. For their Temperature Projects they are to compare data from a Canadian city to a city of their choice worldwide.

Science: We have covered the Muscoloskeletal system, Digestive system, and Circulatory System. Next is the Respiratory system. We have being doing a lot of review games and I am so pleased with how much everyone is retaining.

Weekly Update: March 6-10

Happy March Break !!!

We had a great week leading up to March Break. A few birthdays, lots of excitement, and some students even got to start their vacation early!!

General Update:
*Homework is due March 20th. Any time your child reads they are to answer a question from the list.
*Novel Study Book - students who have not finished their book need to catch-up with reading over the break
*Seesaw- anyone who has not signed up please do so. The information is in your child's homework folder. I post a lot of photos and videos to keep you up to date on what YOUR child is doing.
*Tests: ALL TESTS ARE SENT HOME TO BE SIGNED.

Language:
We are working towards completing and presenting our novel study book at our very first Book Talk. We have also discussed the main idea of a variety of poems and the elements of poetry.

Math;
We finished our decimal unit on Monday and I was quite pleased with the marks. We have moved onto Elapsed time (the difference between one time and another). Quiz your child on how much time has passed throughout March Break.

Here are some photos from our "shopping day"

Students also participated in Luv 2 Groove this week. The dances were presented 3rd block. Check out SEESAW for a few videos.

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable March Break!
